Since graduating from university I have worked freelance for a multiple clients, from companies that have been in business for decades to brand new start-ups. Branding is vitally important, whether it is being able to assume the mantle of the company that hired me or taking the lead with creating logos and documents the start-ups will be using for years to come. My usual tasks involved front end branding such as creating logos and identifying suitable colour branding.
Austin's Rovers is a small dog care business operating in the Surrey area. Created two years ago, Rebecca, the owner, vastly grew her client base and was in need of proper branding and structure for her business to grow even further. Initially I was commissioned to create basic branding and promotional material such as flyers, business cards and required advice about websites.
Lanolens is a theoretical product engineered by a group of Biochemists that repairs eyesight in visually impaired people afflicted with certain conditions. The product is a contact lens that is prescribed when a visual deficiency is identified. I was tasked with the initial branding of an eye-catching and immediately identifiable logo.
As part of creating the Coffee Roaster I had to design branding that would be applied to the project. Working with Hayden I created a logo based on the shape of the roasting machine and a coffee bean, taking colour notes from both light and dark roast.
A young start-up that is dedicated to assisting other companies to build their social media presence by hosting events and utilizing well known techniques to increase their client's numbers. They required multiple designs based on a Cyberpunk Style with bold colours helping them be extra visually striking.
Panther records is dedicated to bringing new artists on to the music scene and developing them into international figureheads. The design uses the eye colour of the director's pet cat to tie in a personal touch to the fairly aggressive branding.
When I joined the Landapp as a design consultant the product and company were in the very early stages of development. The product has huge potential global impact. The client base (farmers) are used to being overlooked by government and industry so it is important the branding demonstrates personability. The lines in the logo are based on the geographical contour lines of the director Tim's personal family farm.
Phone Relief developed it's branding through a physical product ultimately ending up as a phone app. The logo utilises the internationally recognised first aid symbol of a cross, while alluding to the silhouette of a mobile device.
Nuye Distribution is a large transportation company in Asia. They required a basic corporate logo that was visually generic enough to be used globally in multiple cultures, while still maintaining professionalism.
Navigated distribution is the trading name of Nuye Distribution in the western world. The design uses well known navigation and distribution icons to make the company's business immediately recognisable.
